The produce clerk at the grocery store urged me to buy this watermelon and IT'S THE BEST WATERMELON EVERRRRRR! ...and it demands to be eaten with a spoon right out of the rind. #notimetocut #livingmybestlife
I got back in the saddle today.
This is EPIC. @paleomg Bacon Cheeseburger Meatloaf with @fedandfit Nacho Cheese. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa.
Are you a moderator with food or an abstainer?
I’m a total abstainer! I’ve always been the person who eats zero cookies or thirty cookies-there’s no in between for me! For a long time I struggled with this because it seemed like moderation was the key to success and if you didn't moderate you lacked self control. After reading Better Than Before by @gretchenrubin I was able to really embrace my abstainer tendencies and know, confidently, that that is what works best for me.
Those that are moderators just enjoy a bite of food and walk away. They can taste a little bit of everything and not get caught up in excess. But gosh, moderation is hard for me! Draining. Exhausting. It forces me to make one hundred decisions about a certain food instead of just one decision. I'd have a bite of something tempting and then fight off having more for the remainder of the night. I couldn't get it out of my head, experiencing a constant struggle to not have a second bite...not a third...and then not a fourth. Now I make one decision and I'm finished. I decide the things that I can't have (cookies, bread, cereal, etc) and I don't have them. I don't feel like I'm denying myself- I actually feel relieved that the endless decision making is over. It's freeing.
What works best for you? Moderating or abstaining?
@iheartumami.ny #PaleoAsianMeatballs for lunch today. THEY WERE SO GOOD! I'm finding a lot of great recipes on @whole30recipes. Check it out.
Happy May! I just finished the #whole30! I had a looooong post written about all my thoughts and feelings and changes, but I deleted it. (Do you all read the long posts anyway?) I'll just leave you with this: The #whole30 changed my relationship with food. I ate a lot of yummy stuff. I lost 8lbs. It wasn't that hard. I know I can't tolerate gluten, sugar and dairy. Let's keep going!
O.M.Delicious! Today for lunch I made #whole30 Orange Chicken. (Did you catch my IG story?)☝🏼It's a recipe from @physicalkitchness - the second I've made this week! It was easy and delicious. Check out @whole30recipes for more recipe inspiration. It's a great resource with a lot of contributors.
